Summer £20 million striker
Not seen a thread about this yet and as it is for the summer This doesn't belong in the January transfer rumour thread.

There has been a lot of talk from Brady, Sullivan etc. that we will be looking to make a statement in the summer and bring in a £20 million striker.

who would you like this player to be?
Who do you think it will be?
Realistic options only.

I would have loved us to have signed Lukaku, no chance of that happening. How old is Bony? I think he would be a decent signing.

It is too early to talk about really.

If the amazing happens and we finish top 4 then the potential possibilities increase.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was said to fire a rocket up the arse of Carroll and Sakho tbh

With the new TV money 20m pounds will buy you Carlton Cole.
It will be over 50m for anyone decent.

Re: Summer £20 million striker
We can spend £20m on a striker but we can't afford to pay for 6k+ fans to travel to Liverpool in the FA Cup next weekend...

Makes perfect sense to me...

Re: Summer £20 million striker

The TV money will have an impact that is true....although I think this will only really impact buying players from other Premier League teams...if we were to buy from other foreign leagues I think we will be able to pick some decent players up without the price increasing due to UK TV deal?

It is a joke, Plenty of other clubs are putting free transport on for their away fans yet we do nothing

Re: Summer £20 million striker
I doubt we will make top four without a 20 goal striker as they want to bring in next season.

They realise it is the missing link, but it is for many other teams and no guarantee that a top striker will deliver, as has been shown with money spent by the top clubs for years. Sometimes you just have to be lucky.

I think we also need to buy a top midfield enforcer to add some steel to our midfield, we are too powder puff in there at the moment.

Next season the new TV money and stadium will prob add 80m to the revenue

Re: Summer £20 million striker
It would depend on the terms of their contract. We will be in competition with the other pl teams so we should expect to pay more for less.

Could someone explain this 'tv money' thing? Is everyone getting extra dough or something?

Details of the new TV deal and how it compares are here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31386483

There is no way that any overseas club won't take the piss on their valuation when they know a Premier League club is interested.
Lets face it clubs are already playing over the odds for average players. This is only going to get worse particularly if there is competition for a signing.

Any striker is only going to be good if he is in a setup which suits his game and gives him supply regardless of cost or calibre.

I didn't realise it was that much! Those teams in and around the top 2 of the Championship must be very tempted to go all out in this January transfer window to try and get those automatic promotion places!

Re: Summer £20 million striker
Yea it will create some real shit or bust situations and will have the effect of making the championship a much more interesting prospect. The play off final will be a huge game

They could have shown their intentions
by signing Austin for four million

Re: Summer £20 million striker
We will prob go up from 77m to 125-130m which looking at the money league table mean we would go 12th above Milan athletico and Roma that is without the extra 30-40m from the stadium...

It's going to be a big couple of years with some big players coming
